Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Uganda on a working visit.
The Russian news agency “TASS” said that the visit will be the third stop of his African tour, which included the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia and Egypt.
Lavrov will hold talks with his Ugandan counterpart, Gigi Odongo, and will be received by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
The Russian foreign minister said in an exclusive interview with the “Novosti” agency and “RT” that Moscow has had long-term and good relations with Africa, since the days of the Soviet Union.
He added that his country has been actively working in recent years to restore its position on the continent, noting that this approach is shared by African countries.
